Dr. Hemant Thapar, Chairman and CEO Link_A_Media Devices Corporation


Hemant Thapar
has served as CEO since founding the company in March 2004.

Hemant was Founder and CEO of DataPath Systems from 1994 to 2000, when it was acquired by LSI Logic Corporation, where he was a Senior Vice President.  During its six years of ascendancy as a private company, DataPath Systems was listed twice among the Silicon Valley Technology Fast 50 and once among Inc. Magazine’s 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America.

During his early career, Hemant held various technical and management positions at Bell Telephone Laboratories, Holmdel (1979-84) and at IBM Corporation, San Jose (1984-94), where he made pioneering contributions in the areas of circuit-switched networking, data communications, and data storage.  He is co-recipient of three best paper awards for his work on high-speed data transmission and high-density data storage, and served as a guest editor of two special issues of IEEE Transactions devoted to data storage technologies.   Hemant was elected a Fellow of the IEEE for his contributions to the theory, development, and commercial deployment of advanced data recovery methods in data storage and transmission.

Hemant serves on the Advisory Board of the Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, a newly-formed engineering institution in Ambala, India, and he is also affiliated with the School of Engineering at Santa Clara University since 1984.

Hemant holds a Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
